It´s a
bit early to say whether this summer will be really memorable in terms of good
films. As usual, one man´s meat is another man´s poison so it´s a matter of
finding what really appeals to you. If you have a look at the newspaper or you
browse on the Internet about the latest films that have been released, you´ll
discover that there are two films whose titles may be familiar to you: The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of
the Window and Disappeared and The Fault in Our Stars. These films are
based on the novels of the same names by Jonas Jonassonand John Green respectively. Both novels are
well-known as they have become best-sellers and The Fault in Our Stars has become very successful among young
people. As written works, both novels have received critical acclaim but what
about the film adaptations? As far as I know, the reviews on these two films
are quite diverse and whereas The Fault
in Our Stars has won good reviews, the critics haven´t been so kind when
reviewing the film based on the novel by the Swedish author Jonas Jonasson.
However, my words shouldn´t discourage you from watching these films because if
you read my post “Film reviews versus our love of films” you must be aware that
my purpose in writing this blog is to
encourage you to read, to exchange ideas, to form your own opinions and just to
watch films as a way of learning and enjoying yourself, but above all as a way
of having fun.
So, here´s the trailer ofThe Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of
the Window and Disappeared to whet
your appetite.
And the trailer of The Fault in Our
Stars. Many of you must know the actress who plays the main female part of
the story: ShaileneWoodley; she also
played the role of Tris in Divergent
and she wonan
Independent Spirit Award as well as a Golden Globe nomination thanks to her role in The Descendants.
If you´re into sci-fi, you may enjoy watching Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,a story which was praised by the critics when it was released in the
United States on 11th July.
What kind of films do you feel like watching this
summer? Would you like to watch any of the films mentioned on this post? Would
you recommend a film which hasn´t been much advertised in the mass media?
