Yesterday was “Red
Nose Day”, a day of events and activities organised to raise money for charity
and in the UK this day is organised on behalf of the non-profit organisation
Comic Relief, which uses comedy to raise money for disadvantaged people. The
writer and director of Love Actually
(2013), Richard Curtis, is the co-founder of Comic Relief and he decided to get
the cast back together to create a fifteen-minute sequel called Red Nose Day Actually, which was aired
on NBC – the American broadcast television network – yesterday even if the
short-film sequel had already premiered on the BBC on 24th March ,
as Red Nose Day is celebrated on different days in both countries. This time
the film has premiered on TV and not at the cinema but apparently that´s not
the main difference between the 2003 Christmas romcom and Red Nose Day Actually as most reviews
seem to point out that the new film is quite weak in comparison with the 2003 box office smash; nevertheless, the goal
of this film wasn´t to get laughs but to help people and that is also the point
that all reviewers have made.
Did you enjoy watching Love Actually in 2013? Would you like to
watch the sequel to the story of Love Actually? How
do you feel about sequels in general? What´s good and not so good about them?
